Talk of the Day : International STAND UP to Bullying Day
At some point in one’s life, the vast majority of people have been bullied – It might have come from a snide comment from your work mate, your classmate, your family member or anyone in general. Bullies are everywhere from the playground to the office. Just because there are many of us who can relate or are victims of it, it does not “normalise” the act of bullying.
The International STAND UP to Bullying Day is a global event to combat bullying. On this day, people from over 25 countries across the world take an anti-bullying pledge and wear a pink pledge shirt. They take a visible and public stance against bullying. This movement first started in February 2008 with 236 schools, workplaces and other organisations taking part.
It is therefore high time to stand up to our bullies and tell them it is not okay.
